Our History
DarlingtonOS has a long and colourful history dating back over 100 years. The company as we know it today has been producing two full-scale musicals at Darlington Hippodrome since 1945 and has a national reputation for creating large scale, lavish productions.
An integral piece of the history of Darlington Hippodrome, DarlingtonOS was instrumental in keeping the theatre alive in the late 1950s – ensuring the building was not demolished, later selling the building to the local Council who, to this day, run the theatre.
A jewel in the crown of Edwardian theatre, Darlington Hippodrome is a receiving house for large scale professional touring shows with a seating capacity of over 1000. Following a major £13 million restoration back in 2017 the venue is fit for purpose for years to come.
